What my clients say about me:
“I had called many places to get estimates for flooring and paneling work in our 1920s-style bathroom. Most companies either wanted way too much money (because they wanted to do expensive whole makeovers) or wanted to fit such a “small” job in among their larger ones, so no set date was offered.
I was reading a neighborhood newsletter and noticed an ad for HomeProud Handyworks, and called Ken. I am so glad I did – He came out within a few days, talked with us about what we wanted done, and came up with a good estimate. Plus, he did a great job: getting the materials we chose (floor tiles, paneling, etc.), setting up times that were good for us, arriving when he said, checking with us on our input to the various decisions needed before going ahead … and all that in a friendly, casual manner that didn’t slow down anything!
Unlike many house projects, this very much started and ended when promised, and we felt we had made a great choice in contacting him. We feel that we made a friend in Ken and would definitely contact HomeProud Handyworks again!”
“Ken is great to work with! He shows up on time and lets you know right away if there are any changes needed on the construction schedule. He is great with our daughter and our pets. They love being named ‘employee of the week’. Ken stays on task and treats your home as if it were his own. High quality workmanship!”
“I have been using Homeproud Handyworks for a couple of years. Ken has been meticulous in his work. I have the utmost confidence in Ken and his work. I totally trust in his advice on how things should be repaired. I highly recommend Homeproud Handyworks!”
“Ken has been my neighbor for over 25 years and during those many years, I’ve watched him updating his marvelous older home.
I was delighted when, a few years ago, he started his own handyman company.
He has done several projects for me, including garage repairs, kitchen flooring and my favorite project: installing a railing for the wheelchair ramp my daughter uses.
Ken designed and built an exceptionally sturdy railing which has proved life saving when the ramp gets slippery. This railing is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing with post caps which have solar lights for a soft glow during the night hours.
Ken’s workmanship is excellent, he is upfront about what he’ll be doing and completes the work in the time frame given. He keeps me appraised of when he can take on a project and if there are to be any changes, such as due to weather issues, he keeps me informed.
My father was a carpenter so I grew up seeing what quality work looked like. I see this in all the work Ken has done for my home!”
“We are big fans of Ken in this house. He’s here when he says he’ll be here. He’s especially responsive when we’re in a pinch. He’s empathetic and feels our sense of urgency. Even our dog loves Ken! His focus is on quality, not rushing through projects. He makes sure we understand all our options and the pros/cons of decisions. Ken is very versatile and a fantastic human. Hire Ken whenever you need something done at your home!”
“Ken has helped me with two projects and is always concerned with doing things the right way. He is knowledgeable, careful, considerate and an all around good guy!”
“We have used HomeProud Handyworks for several projects and with every project Ken has brought a wealth of knowledge about old South Minneapolis homes and high quality craftsmanship to the project. When working with Ken, we know we can trust him to communicate effectively, offer solutions to meet our budget, and get the job done with excellent workmanship and care. We highly recommend HomeProud Handyworks!”
“Ken was a joy to have around. He showed up on time and always put in a full day (and more). We had absolutely no issues having him around our home. He got here on time and worked hard all day. He kept us informed as the projects went along. Every day he told us when he would arrive and when he planned to leave. He never was absent from the jobsite for even a day.
His work was absolutely top notch. I am a little ashamed to say that his standards exceeded mine. Where I was ready to accept “pretty good”, Ken wanted only the best for me. His work has been durable, and remains a big part of the curb appeal of our home. I’d hire him again in a minute.“
“I recently needed to repair a section of brick façade at one of our properties, about 50 square feet had come loose from the substrate, was badly deteriorated and required replacement. I found Ken Webb online and contacted him. We met on site to review the scope of work. Ken said that masonry wasn’t really his forte, but he was willing to take it on. We agreed on a price and I authorized the work to commence.
If brickwork wasn’t really his area of expertise, it was hard to tell by the quality of work Ken did for us. He was prompt, punctual and stayed on schedule even through a run of bad weather. The worksite was clean at the end of every day. When he was finished, the re-built area blended in very well with adjacent areas and was rock solid. Beyond that, Ken was professional, polite and courteous, an all-around good guy.
I will not hesitate to call on Ken the next time we need a contractor for home repair, and I encourage others to call on him as well!”
“I have used Ken for work at my business and for my mothers home. We also recommend him to customers that shop at our business. Ken’s work is excellent and he stays focused on the work that he is doing. He takes the time to fully understand what is being requested. Ken is a great problem solver. He is punctual and keeps the communication current at all times. I have complete trust in him and was so appreciative of how he treated my 91 year old mother. I wish that I could clone him so that he could help more folks!”
“Ken and I were friends before his handyman business came about: We fostered cats, and Ken and his wife Lisa (who happened to live very near by) ended up adopting two of our (awesome) cats! So we became friends over cats (and dogs!), and grew to admire the work Ken was doing to upgrade/remodel his and Lisa’s South Mpls older home.
How I would summarize Ken:
#1 attention to detail in his work. Ken has many, MANY skills. As Ken’s business began to evolve, and we accepted that WE had minimal skills, we were thrilled to have just a skilled friend. I was not too worried about the precision of baseboard joints, for example, but Ken was. He cares about the finished product.
#2 Ken has done quite a few projects for us because he has a WIDE variety of skills. The average homeowner needs a Ken! For us, he has installed a new kitchen floor, ceiling fan, fencing, totally custom kitty litter box enclosure…
#3 he cares about the safety of our pets. He is not going to leave your front gate open if there is a chance your dogs (or cats!) could come out of the house. As devoted pet parents, this trust is huge.
We love you, Ken!“
“We had an old cedar deck that needed to be replaced. Ken was helpful in providing options of how and what could be done. We decided on a composite material and metal railings. The frame needed some modifications but basically was in good condition. Ken kept us informed of progress and issues to be addressed throughout the process. He kept us informed of a working schedule and we could always rely on him being there on time. He provided quality workmanship and we are happy with the end result. We have received many compliments from our neighbors.”

“Mr. Webb did an excellent job for me on a wall repair. He arrived right on time. He discussed several options with me, and I chose the option I preferred. He quoted me a reasonable price, but then he found a simpler way to do the repair and charged me less than half of his estimate. (How often does that ever happen???) The work was completed in a timely and professional manner. I would recommend him highly.“
“I had a very good experience working with Ken on replacing a large portion of decking on my downstairs cedar deck last October (2021). He is very conscientious about his work, and very organized. It all went right according to the schedule he set and communicated. We did it on an hourly basis, and his time was right on the estimate! I highly recommend him, and would definitely use his services and expertise again.“
“Thank you Ken for your wonderful work! I love the new handrails leading to the porch and on the front porch and backyard deck. I can easily access my home safely and quickly without fear of falling. My home has been enhanced by your careful and customized craftsmanship. The new railings have gotten much attention from my neighbors and even strangers walking by. At night, the solar light railing post caps make my home look magical!“
“I’m so glad I found Ken Webb at HomeProud Handyworks to help me get my home fixed up. Lots of guys are just sloppy and don’t do a very good job, but Ken has been an answer to all my prayers. He’s honest and reliable. I appreciate his attention to detail and his practical advice. He’s patient, asks all the right questions, listens to my concerns and does a fantastic job. He’s respectful, conscientious & he’s been wonderful with my skittish dog. I’m happy with everything he’s done from replacing the rotted floor around my toilet, installing handrails for my outside steps, fixing my doors & doorknob, fixing my chain link fence, replacing rotted window casings… the list goes on. Is there anything he can’t do??“
“Ken worked with us to repair our leaning wood fence in 2021. This was an expensive fence but some original posts had rotted at ground level. Replacing it would have been prohibitively expensive and the small lot sizes in our neighborhood made repair difficult. The cherry on top was that we had to arrange the entire project remotely. A nightmare scenario if ever there was one. I wasn’t even sure which posts needed work!
Enter Ken. He scoped out the situation, provided options with various pricing, and worked with us to pick the best solution. I trusted him to arrange visits when he could, work out access issues with the neighbors, and get the wayward fence posts solid again. It isn’t easy to work around heritage lilac trees, raspberry bushes, and a chicken coop; Ken did it all without blinking an eye.
Other contractors are put off by quirky back yards–Ken understands how old homes work and works hard to make things right. He even made communicating with a six-hour time difference seamless. Coming home to a straight fence and happy neighbors was a huge relief.
Home repairs are inevitable. You can trust Ken to get them done the way you want, even if you can’t be there in person.“
“Ken has been helping us for almost a year now and we are so grateful for his help. We moved here from Texas and there were quite a few projects necessary to make our new house comfortable for us. After I called him he came out promptly and built a railing that made it safer for me to use the steps on the back deck. The railing is sturdy and attractive. Other projects have included installing wall mounted shelving units, hanging multiple pieces of wall art, installing a motion sensitive light fixture, measuring for and installing mini blinds and a multitude of other projects. One of the most unusual tasks was the retrieval of my wedding ring which fell through a crack on the deck. This involved removing a board to reach the ring. I was so grateful!
In addition to doing fine work, Ken is a professional craftsman who seems to truly enjoy his work. He is personable and interesting to talk to. We enjoy his visits and now consider him a friend.“
“After purchasing a new home with my elderly mother, there were many home improvements to tackle right away. Working with Ken Webb of HomeProud Handyworks spoiled us for the other contractors who came after him.
Ken was incredibly conscientious of the value of time and very professional when it came to project management. He was clear and concrete about work times, he was punctual, and he stayed within the time and budget estimates stated at the beginning of each project. I appreciate how Ken was also very upfront about how we could save money by doing some things ourselves. For example, he told me I could save money by doing the mudding portion of my drywall project myself and gave me tips and pointers on how to get it done. That impressed me and went above and beyond what I was expecting.
The quality of his work also stood out. Ken did some carpentry both inside and outside of the house to help make it more ADA accessible, to assist my mother’s mobility around the premises. Neighbors have approached us multiple times to comment on how beautiful our new handrails are, and how pretty they are at night with the solar light post caps installed. Ken brings an artisan’s touch to his work and takes pride in doing a job well. He has an excellent sense of design, combining simplistic beauty with daily functionality. I look forward to working with Ken again and will eagerly vouch for the quality of his work.“
“Ken did great work on a couple of very different jobs for me. One involving a malfunctioning doorbell, the other was a fence repair. Both projects were a success and Ken was a pleasure to work with. He kept me up to date with steady communication, telling me when he’d start and how long it would take and what to expect. I appreciate that he followed up later to see how everything was doing. That was a year ago and the new and repaired fencing looks great and, after he diagnosed the doorbell problem, a new doorbell transformer did the trick and has had no problems. I’m sure I’ll hire him again as he does good work and, as a homeowner who lives in Ken’s neighborhood, I know and trust him.”
