I was delighted when, a few years ago, he started his own handyman company.
He has done several projects for me, including garage repairs, kitchen flooring and my favorite project: installing a railing for the wheelchair ramp my daughter uses.
Ken designed and built an exceptionally sturdy railing which has proved life saving when the ramp gets slippery. This railing is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing with post caps which have solar lights for a soft glow during the night hours.
Ken’s workmanship is excellent, he is upfront about what he’ll be doing and completes the work in the time frame given. He keeps me appraised of when he can take on a project and if there are to be any changes, such as due to weather issues, he keeps me informed.

“I recently needed to repair a section of brick façade at one of our properties, about 50 square feet had come loose from the substrate, was badly deteriorated and required replacement. I found Ken Webb online and contacted him. We met on site to review the scope of work. Ken said that masonry wasn’t really his forte, but he was willing to take it on. We agreed on a price and I authorized the work to commence.
If brickwork wasn’t really his area of expertise, it was hard to tell by the quality of work Ken did for us. He was prompt, punctual and stayed on schedule even through a run of bad weather. The worksite was clean at the end of every day. When he was finished, the re-built area blended in very well with adjacent areas and was rock solid. Beyond that, Ken was professional, polite and courteous, an all-around good guy.
I will not hesitate to call on Ken the next time we need a contractor for home repair, and I encourage others to call on him as well!”

“Ken and I were friends before his handyman business came about: We fostered cats, and Ken and his wife Lisa (who happened to live very near by) ended up adopting two of our (awesome) cats! So we became friends over cats (and dogs!), and grew to admire the work Ken was doing to upgrade/remodel his and Lisa’s South Mpls older home.
How I would summarize Ken:
#1 attention to detail in his work. Ken has many, MANY skills. As Ken’s business began to evolve, and we accepted that WE had minimal skills, we were thrilled to have just a skilled friend. I was not too worried about the precision of baseboard joints, for example, but Ken was. He cares about the finished product.
#2 Ken has done quite a few projects for us because he has a WIDE variety of skills. The average homeowner needs a Ken! For us, he has installed a new kitchen floor, ceiling fan, fencing, totally custom kitty litter box enclosure…
#3 he cares about the safety of our pets. He is not going to leave your front gate open if there is a chance your dogs (or cats!) could come out of the house. As devoted pet parents, this trust is huge.

“We had an old cedar deck that needed to be replaced. Ken was helpful in providing options of how and what could be done. We decided on a composite material and metal railings. The frame needed some modifications but basically was in good condition. Ken kept us informed of progress and issues to be addressed throughout the process. “Ken worked with us to repair our leaning wood fence in 2021. This was an expensive fence but some original posts had rotted at ground level. Replacing it would have been prohibitively expensive and the small lot sizes in our neighborhood made repair difficult. The cherry on top was that we had to arrange the entire project remotely. A nightmare scenario if ever there was one. I wasn’t even sure which posts needed work!
Enter Ken. He scoped out the situation, provided options with various pricing, and worked with us to pick the best solution. I trusted him to arrange visits when he could, work out access issues with the neighbors, and get the wayward fence posts solid again. It isn’t easy to work around heritage lilac trees, raspberry bushes, and a chicken coop; Ken did it all without blinking an eye.
Other contractors are put off by quirky back yards–Ken understands how old homes work and works hard to make things right. He even made communicating with a six-hour time difference seamless. Coming home to a straight fence and happy neighbors was a huge relief.

“Ken has been helping us for almost a year now and we are so grateful for his help. We moved here from Texas and there were quite a few projects necessary to make our new house comfortable for us. After I called him he came out promptly and built a railing that made it safer for me to use the steps on the back deck. The railing is sturdy and attractive. Other projects have included installing wall mounted shelving units, hanging multiple pieces of wall art, installing a motion sensitive light fixture, measuring for and installing mini blinds and a multitude of other projects. One of the most unusual tasks was the retrieval of my wedding ring which fell through a crack on the deck. This involved removing a board to reach the ring. I was so grateful!

“After purchasing a new home with my elderly mother, there were many home improvements to tackle right away. Working with Ken Webb of HomeProud Handyworks spoiled us for the other contractors who came after him.
Ken was incredibly conscientious of the value of time and very professional when it came to project management. He was clear and concrete about work times, he was punctual, and he stayed within the time and budget estimates stated at the beginning of each project. I appreciate how Ken was also very upfront about how we could save money by doing some things ourselves. For example, he told me I could save money by doing the mudding portion of my drywall project myself and gave me tips and pointers on how to get it done. The quality of his work also stood out. Ken did some carpentry both inside and outside of the house to help make it more ADA accessible, to assist my mother’s mobility around the premises. Ken brings an artisan’s touch to his work and takes pride in doing a job well. He has an excellent sense of design, combining simplistic beauty with daily functionality. “Ken did great work on a couple of very different jobs for me. One involving a malfunctioning doorbell, the other was a fence repair. Both projects were a success and Ken was a pleasure to work with.
